We share trade secrets that will help your flowers last longer, no matter where you buy them. At the end of the evening, you will take home an Instagram-worthy floral arrangement valued at $170 that you have created and a gift bag of tools worth $25 so that you can create beautiful arrangements at home.
We were the first florist in Seattle to offer floral design classes to the public. It began in 2007 when a customer asked if we could help her celebrate her birthday with some friends by teaching them how to make flower arrangements. Since then hundreds of students have taken our classes and learned valuable tips and techniques to create beautiful and long-lasting arrangements. Our methods are simple, and the techniques are easy to put into use in most styles of floral design. Many of our students have gone on to pursue a career in floral design, while others have put their new skills to use creating beautiful arrangements for personal enjoyment and gifts.

Texture Box Classes
Our Texture Box classes are an opportunity that can only be found here. We created the first small Texture Boxes in 2010 as a unique design to sell in the boutique that we ran in the Downtown Seattle Nordstrom flagship store at the time. They were an immediate hit! Once we added them to our website they sold so quickly that we kept adding more sizes as well as the slightly more refined Texture Bowls. Now our exclusive Texture Collection is one in every four of our online sales. They are even award winners: In 2022, a Texture Box by our Creative Director, Leigh Grossman, won both First Place and the People’s Choice Award in the Foraged and Found design competition put on by the Northwest Chapter of the American Institute of Floral Designers.
After many, many requests for a class teaching how to make a Texture Box, Leigh finally agreed to give it a try in 2018. Starting with that first class, every space in our Texture Box classes has sold out. We offer them several times a year, changing them up with the seasons. Everything is supplied for you to create a beautiful Texture Box worth $140 that reflects your personal style. We also give you instructions on planting the succulents from your Texture Box so that you may continue to enjoying them long after the flowers have faded. The box and liner can be reused to create your own designs at home.
You can see our entire Texture Collection here.
Schedule
Our class schedule follows the seasons of the year, beginning with our Spring Texture Box class in March which is followed by our Tulip Floral Design Class in April. After Mother’s Day is our most popular floral design class: Peonies. We typically begin with two sessions of the Peonies Class and add additional classes as they fill up. During the summer dahlias take center stage in the pavé floral design class, ball form of dahlias in particular for their longer vase-life. October has us hosting two classes: The Fall Texture Box Class and the Fall Focus Class. Both classes emphasize the colors and textures of autumn. We really bring the holiday spirit in December with our Holiday Texture Box class and the Holiday Wreath Decorating class.

Safety Protocols
We have had an air purifier installed in our HVAC system that filters the entire building. At this stage of the pandemic, whether or not to wear a mask in public is a personal choice. Students who will be more comfortable wearing a mask during class are welcome to do so without fear of being judged.
Speaking Engagements and Demonstrations
Miles has had the pleasure of speaking before garden clubs and other organizations as well as appearing on New Day Northwest on King5 TV. He would love to have the opportunity to share his passion for floral design, what he grows in his own cutting garden, how to make your own cut flowers last longer or current trends in floral design, especially the trend of using foraged and local flowers. If you would like to have Miles as a guest speaker for your group email him using the link on our contacts page with details such as possible dates, topics you think that your group would enjoy hearing about, and if you are seeking a lecture, class, demonstration or a combination.
Here is what some of our students have said about our classes:
Kind Words
- Krista N. (10-13-2023)You were absolutely fantastic!!! I just had the best time being the “Special Ed” student of the class. Everyone’s project turned out beautifully. What patience you have and the feedback was terrific!
My favorite part- was your humor Miles. Even though I have very little design skills and needed extra help, I left the class with an Instagram worthy piece!
Lol I promise not to replace the dianthus with a died rainbow rose!
And that chocolate- num num!
I will take your recommendation and sign up for your pave class.
Happy foraging!
- Debra T. (06-15-2022)I attended the June 2nd Peony workshop - learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Instructor and owner, Miles, is a great instructor - personable, endless knowledge and generous with his time. Thanks to Miles' tutelage, we all took home gorgeous peony arrangements. Peonies are a favorite of mine, but I would have taken a dandelion workshop, just to attend a Fiori workshop. I'm signed up for the Texture Box class on 6/23 and can't wait. :)
- Mary M. (06-06-2017)I have had the distinct pleasure of ordering and receiving floral creations from Fiori Floral Designs and Miles Johnson on multiple occasions and the arrangements are always breath taking, original in design, long lasting and an absolute bright spot in my home and day. Knowing the quality of design of Fiori creations I was privileged to take a peony arranging class from Miles and I learned more than I had any idea I did not know about flower arranging. Miles patiently demonstrated one technique after another, provided us with all needed materials to include flowers and arranging tools. I was astounded and delighted with the results. I went home that evening with much more than a beautiful arrangement; I left with the confidence, knowledge and tools to continue making lovely floral arrangements for friends and myself. The class was a truly enlightening and uplifting experience that I value greatly to this day. I highly recommend Fiori Floral Designs to all my family and friends and now to you in this review.
- Nayeli S. (06-16-2017)I took a class and had a great time learning and making a beautiful arrangement, for sure it won't be my only class.
5 stars
